BIO
Say hello to Rose, formerly known as Snowball, a sweet 1 ½ year old Labrador / Jack Russell mix. Rose came to us through a rescuer in Rosarita where she was found with eye trauma and a docked tail. Fortunately we were able to get her to the vet for care, but her eye couldn't be saved. She was just a puppy at the time and even though she only had one eye, she adapted quickly, however the original adopter became ill and now she is looking for a new forever home. She is currently in a cozy foster home and waiting for her forever family to come along.
Rose is a playful dog with a lot of energy. Every task that she completes is at 110%. She loves to play fetch and go on walks every morning and night. She also loves to be petted and scratched. On weekends, she is the best adventure buddy and will happily accompany you on any runs or hikes that you undertake without even breaking a sweat. She is a strong lady and sometimes will pull on the leash when she gets excited about squirrels, other dogs, or anything else that grabs her attention. A gentle leader or EZ walk harness should help with this, as well as working with an experienced dog trainer.
Rose knows basic commands such as sit, come, down, and shake. She is a quick learner with a lot of potential. Her dog trainer indicated that she is a perfect candidate for agility courses, if that is something her new family would be interested in undertaking.
Rose loves her food and her toys. She shares her toys and isn't possessive over food or other things. She likes almost every food (except peanut butter...go figure!) and especially likes her Kong toy filled with whipped cream. She will keep you company in the kitchen and is always ready to help you "clean up" if you drop something yummy while cooking!
Rose also loves to go on adventures. She recently went camping and she loved it. She will make a great companion for her furever family!
She is potty trained and hasn't had any accidents in her foster home, but of course in her new home she will need to be shown where to go potty so she can continue this behavior pattern.
Rose loves all dogs and people - big, small, young, old, male, and female. She frequents the dog park on almost a daily basis to release some of her energy and mingle with her furry friends. She happily greets all who come into the house and her foster mom says she would make a terrible guard dog because of how friendly she is. LOL
Rose loves her feline foster sister and would be great with other cats as long as the cat was okay with a big, friendly, cat-obsessed dog around. Rose can be a little curious, but the foster's cat knows how to deflect Rose's sometimes overly pushy advances.
Rose loves her foster mom and dad. She is definitely a "velcro" dog and will shadow them as they go about their business at home. She doesn't like being left alone for long periods of time and will "sing the song of her people", for all the neighbors to hear. Her foster mom and dad have been working on this and she has improved greatly. We are looking for a family willing to continue working with her on this separation anxiety and won't leave her for extended periods of time alone. The good news is that she doesn't need to be crated or isolated when she's left alone, as she doesn't destroy anything.
Rose is a very lovely girl who can't wait to find her special family. If you are looking for the perfect walking or running buddy, look no further: Rose is your girl.
